J Balvin & Ed Sheeran Dot Billboard Latin Charts With ‘Forever My Love’ & ‘Sigue’
J Balvin and Ed Sheeran dot the Billboard Latin charts following the artists’ recent collaborations, paced by a rise to No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart and a top 10 debut on the Hot Latin Songs chart (both dated April 9).
“Forever My Love” shoots 36-1 on Latin Airplay — for its first week atop the all-genre list — after its full tracking week ending April 3 with 9.2 million in audience impressions in the U.S., according to Luminate, formerly MRC Data.
The bilingual ballad was released — in tandem with the reggaetón-splashed “Sigue” — on March 25 via Atlantic/Colores/Universal Music Latino/UMLE and debuted at No. 36 with only three days of airplay. Now at No. 1, it takes the week’s Greatest Gainer honors.
With the move, J Balvin extends his lead for the most leaders among all acts with 34. He captured his record-breaking 33rd No. 1 when “Una Nota,” with Sech, took over the tally (dated Jan. 1) and surpassed Enrique Iglesias for the most champs there.
Sheeran, meanwhile, is a new visitor to the region earning his first No. 1. He concurrently nabs a second top 10 as “Sigue,” the second track the pair released in conjunction, likewise makes a big surge, escalating 43-5, after its full tracking week, with 7.03 million audience impressions.
Here’s a recap of the leaderboard on the Latin Airplay chart’s 27-year existence:
34, J Balvin
32, Enrique Iglesias
25, Daddy Yankee
19, Romeo Santos
On the all-metric Hot Latin Songs, both tracks make their first appearance within the list’s top 20: “Sigue” opens at No. 8 while “Forever My Love” arrives at No. 11. Hot Latin Songs blends airplay, streams, and digital sales, where Balvin registers a return to its top tier following his No. 5-peaking “In Da Getto,” with Skrillex (Sept. 2021). Sheeran, meanwhile, collects his first entries on Hot Latin Songs.
In addition to the songs’ airplay swell, streams also contribute to their debut: “Sigue” registered 4.03 million U.S. clicks in the week ending March 31, enough to earn a No. 13 start on Latin Streaming Songs.
Meanwhile, “Forever My Love” logged 2.65 million streams.
The tracks, similarly, benefit from sales: “Forever” sold 3,000 downloads while “Sigue” 2,000 downloads. The former climbs 14-2 on the Latin Digital Song Sales and the latter, 17-3.
