Christian Nodal Captures Fourth Top 10 on Regional Mexican Albums Chart With ‘Forajido’

Christian Nodal scores his fourth straight top 10 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart as his most recent project, Forajido, debuts at No. 6 on the June 11-dated ranking.

The six-track EP opens with 3,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending June 2, according to Luminate. Forajido was released May 27. It’s Nodal’s first set after he joined Sony Music Latin earlier this year.

The Regional Mexican Albums chart ranks the most popular regional Mexican albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, comprising album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

Forajido’s streaming activity makes up for most of its opening sum. That equates to 4.66 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs in its opening week.

Forajido gives the 23-year-old his fourth consecutive top 10 after three earlier No. 1s, all through UMLE, dating back to his first leader — and maiden entry — on Regional Mexican Albums, Me Dejé Llevar. That 13-track effort held strong at the summit for a record 73-week run, the most among all male acts, and the second-most overall, trailing only Selena’s Amor Prohibido, which racked up a total of 97 total weeks at No. 1 since the chart launched in 1985.

Forajido gives Nodal his first debut on Regional Mexican Albums after two years. He last premiered on the 20-deep tally with 2020’s Ayayay!, which remained at the penthouse for seven straight weeks.

Elsewhere, Forajido lands at No. 28 on the all-Latin genre Top Latin Albums.

The set yielded two songs on the all-metric Hot Latin Songs chart: “La Sinvergüenza” (No. 20 high in Dec. 2021) and “Ya No Somos Ni Seremos” (No. 8 peak, March 5-dated survey). Meanwhile “Vivo En El 6” peaks at No. 14 on Regional Mexican Airplay.
